Slow Cooker Braised Pork Hocks

- 1 Piece Pork Hock
- 1/2 Cup Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Chinese Cooking Wine
- 2 Tablespoons Black Bean Garlic Paste
- 3 Stalks Leeks rough chopped
- 1 2-inch Piece Ginger thinly sliced
- 2 Cups Shiitake Mushrooms
- 1/2 Tablespoons Black Peppercorns
- 5 Pieces Star Anise
Combine soy sauce, sugar, wine, and black bean garlic paste in a bowl. Whisk until sugar is dissolved.
Add pork hock and leave to marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
Arrange leeks and shiitake at the bottom of the slow cooker.
Lay pork hock on top.
Pour in the marinade and add water until about 3/4 of the pork hock.
Add the peppercorns and star anise and cook for 7-8 hours on high.
Transfer braising liquid to a saucepan and reduce until slightly syrupy on the stovetop.
