India is a fascinating country, full of rich culture, diverse foods, and plenty of drinks. Not surprisingly, Indian drinks come in a variety of styles. Some of them are warm and relaxing, perfect for cold winter evenings, while others are cool and refreshing instead. Many of the interesting ingredients and spices used in Indian cooking […]
You may have seen ghee in the grocery store before or perhaps featured in an Indian cookbook. So, what is this ingredient, and is ghee good for you? Let’s start with the basics. Ghee is one form of clarified butter. It has a long history in Pakistani and Indian cooking, and we’re now starting to […]
Indian cuisine is known for its spice flavors. And as many spices there are in India, there are even more different types of dishes. That’s because Indian cooking varies from region to region. Ingredients and techniques are influenced by the traditions, religion, and caste per region. Similarly, Indian cookbooks are just as diverse. There are […]
Many of us love Indian food and there is something amazing about the complexity of the spices and aromas that are involved. But, while Indian food is extremely appealing at a restaurant, trying to make it at home is a lot more difficult IMO. Even if you do have a good recipe, mimicking those flavors […]
I’ve always loved the flavors of Indian food, especially authentic Indian dishes, rather than the Americanized versions that you see around. More than anything, this is because Indian food has such a complex balance of flavors and spices. These concepts work well with many different meals, including traditional Indian dishes and variations that use some […]
Go Indian food for dinner tonight. Quick, easy, and really flavorful. A traditional Indian dish, a Chicken Tikka Masala consists of chunks of roasted chicken in a creamy, orange-colored light curry sauce. We’re tweaking this traditional dish, cooking our chicken sous vide instead of roasting, to render the meat more tender and succulent. That comes […]
A slow cooker adaptation of the classic Indian butter chicken. Mildly spicy, rich, and creamy. This is certainly a perfect introduction to Indian cuisine. Not too much into Indian food? This dish might actually change the way you see curry dishes. Well, it technically is still a curry, but the addition of butter and cream […]
Bummer dude, this one took longer than expected. But it was so delicious, that I think it’s my favorite recipe of all the recent chicken recipes I’ve been testing. It does take a bit of work to get the sauce tasting right, but I was pretty proud of myself able to make authentic-tasting Indian food. Next time I’ll just make a bunch of sauce and use it on rice, chicken, beef, and whatever else I have around. My only regret from this recipe was not doubling it to make more for the week. Follow along as I make chicken tikka masala!
Asian cuisine is full of flavors and original tastes. Curry dishes (whether they are made with meat or chickpeas or soy beans) are usually quite complicated and use many ingredients. It is true that the final result is xtremely delicious. The recipe below offers a quick and simple alternative to the classic one, yet delicious as well.
Curry is a versatile spice that goes well with all kind of dishes, especially meat and legumes. You will note the combination of aromas in the recipe, giving it an exotic taste. I love this beef curry because it doesn’t take long to cook and it uses handy ingredients. It has a reach, creamy texture and will keep the hunger sensation away for hours.
I love curry, and I’ve never actually been able to make a good one. I’ve tried somewhere between 5-10 recipes, and it just never comes out like the kind you get in restaurants. Even friends of mine are able to whip up a great curry sauce in just a few minutes, but mine always bomb.
This recipe was no exception! Although it tasted fine, it wasn’t amazing, and I think I didn’t quite get the yogurt mixture down correctly (see what I subbed for the heavy cream). Still, it was very quick to make, and worth another try. Maybe you’ll have more success than me!
