Is there anyone out there who doesn't love chocolate? I believe not. The passion for chocolate will last for centuries. It is simply a form of art.

It is possible to enjoy a chocolate dessert without very much trouble. This biscuit salami is not only delicious and quick, but it also looks fantastic and if you are having guests I can guarantee that they will be delighted. With only a few simple ingredients you will be able to create a true masterpiece. You will only need some biscuits, mascarpone cheese, chocolate of course, hot cocoa and some peanuts.

Chocolate and Mascarpone biscuit salami ingredients

First of all, create a double boiler if you don't have one already: pour some water into a large pot and place it over medium heat. Add the chocolate to a small pan and place the pan in the large pot. Or, as I said, use a double boiler to melt the chocolate.

Melting the chocolate 1

The chocolate will start to melt. Stir until it gets creamy, and then remove from heat. Let cool a little bit.

Melting the chocolate 2

Beat the mascarpone until fluffy, and then add the chocolate. You may also use already prepared chocolate creams, like Nutella, but I prefer going for dark chocolate as it has a stronger taste.

Adding the chocolate to mascarpone cheese

Stir until everything is well combined and the chocolate is evenly distributed.

Preparing the chocolate cream

It is time to start assembling the salami. Take 1 biscuit and use a knife or a very small spatula to spread some cream over it.

Spreading cream over the biscuit

Place another biscuit on top of it so you will get a sandwich.

Getting a biscuit pair

Repeat this step for all biscuits. In the end you will get 12 such sandwiches. Don't rush into eating them like I was tempted to. They looked like a quick and delicious snack, but I found the power to keep on going with my biscuit salami.

Biscuit pairs

The next steps may seem more difficult, and this is why I have taken more pictures for you to see exactly how to do this. In fact, the whole process of preparing this salami is quite simple.

Pour the hot cocoa into a bowl. It tastes better if you soak the biscuits in coffee, but I have made this dessert for my kids too, so I only used cocoa. Soak the sandwich in the liquid for only 1 second.

Soaking the biscuit pair in hot chocolate

Spread some cream on one side…

… and then take another sandwich and stick to the first one.

Sticking together the pairs

Place this brick on a long or large plate. Spread another batch of cream on the inner side of the brick and add another soaked sandwich.

Placing the brick on a plate

Repeat until you form the salami.

Assembling the salami

You will have a lot of cream left. Use a spatula to cover the salami.

Covering with cream

Take a large piece of parchment paper and place the peanuts on half of it. Fold the other half and use a rolling pin to crush the peanuts.

Chopping the peanuts

They should look like this. You may crush them smaller if you prefer to.

Chopped peanuts

Sprinkle the peanuts over the salami and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
