I always loved simple desserts, but I am also experiencing how different and even opposite tastes come together in various dishes. And I found out that I love sweet and spicy foods, like this ice cream. I have previously tried chili chocolate and I really liked it. So I thought to give a try to chili chocolate ice cream as well.
There are a lot of ways to prepare ice cream, but I often choose the easiest ones because I don't have much time for cooking. Still I enjoy doing it very much and I strongly believe that homemade food is much healthier and tasty. Of course I like going out for dinner, but most of the times I like playing with ingredients myself.
What is interesting about this ice cream is that you are expecting a sweet taste and you will have a surprise: the hot taste.
Here is the recipe: nothing complicated, it will only take 15-20 minutes to prepare.
Add the cocoa to the milk and heat the mixture but do not boil. It would be better to sift the cocoa, it will be easier to get a soft liquid. I didn't do it this time and I had to stir harder to dissolve the lumps.
Whip the heavy cream with a mixer. Only whip until it begins to stand firm. You may also use a balloon whisker or a standing mixer to do this.
I poured the milk to a bowl and added the whipped cream, honey and chili powder. I even threw some chocolate chips I found in my cupboard, but I forgot to take pictures of them. If you prefer your ice cream hotter, add some extra chili powder.
After you add all the ingredients, stir well to incorporate everything. Place the mixture in the fridge to cool. Run it through an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
If you don't have an ice cream maker, place the ice cream in the freezer and stir from time to time until it freezes. You need to whisk the mixture because this way you will break the ice particles that may form.
Place the ice cream in ice cream cups, serve and enjoy!
