Tasty!

The pizza dough is really bursting with the familiar aromas of Chinese cuisine. The topping of Chinese chorizo worked perfectly with the flavors in the crust.

I do have a strong preference for Chinese food and it really is natural for me to turn to their cuisine for inspiration when creating new recipes. A good pizza dough is no exception and I've successfully packed familiar Chinese flavors into this recipe.

Get the yeast rising in a bowl of warm water and sugar as you get the other ingredients ready. It'll need somewhere from five to ten minutes to bloom.

Meanwhile, incorporate some sesame seeds into your bowl of all-purpose flour. These seeds will serve as nutty bits of texture which you'll get with every bite of the pizza crust later.

We'll be flavoring this dough with some black bean garlic paste, which is adequately salty on its own, thus there's be no need for any additional salt.

Once the yeast is active, stir it into the dry mix together with some oil. I've used an equal mix of olive oil and sesame oil here to round up those Oriental flavors even more.

Here's what a jar of black bean garlic paste looks like. It shouldn't be hard to find in the Asian section of most supermarkets. It works really well for stir-fries too, so getting a whole jar won't really be a bad choice.

Stir all the ingredients evenly, then tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead on it for about 5-7 minutes or until it is completely smooth and elastic.

Leave the dough to rise in a lightly oiled bowl.

This dough has really puffed up!

Time for our toppings. We're going for some Chinese flavors right? Top that pizza with some slices of Chinese chorizo, some thinly sliced onions, some cheese, and a good sprinkle of spring onions. Sounds like a noodle stir fry on a pizza!

Bake the pizza for 25 minutes at 400F. It'll smell like a Chinese stir-fry is going on in your kitchen as this pizza bakes.

Now that we're getting creative with our pizza dough recipes, it's time to rethink how we're making our pizza. You can actually make pizza outdoors with a “faux” wood-fired pizza oven though KettlePizza. You can turn your gas or charcoal grill into a smoky, 800º oven just like the pros, but right in your back yard. I've loving mine. If you love making great pizza, you gotta check out my review of this product.
