5 Legging of the Month Clubs

Leggings have been worn since the 14th century, although legging of the month clubs are a much more recent addition. Interestingly, leggings were not brought into fashion by the women of the 14th century. Instead, it was men who first sported leggings. The leggings of 14th century Scotland were admittedly different than the fashionable pant of today.

The first leggings were created as individual accessories. They covered the legs from ankle to hip but were not connected, picture pant legs only. In addition to not being connected, they were also fashioned from leather or chainmail. Sometimes they were worn for battle, but just as frequently, they were part of the men’s everyday apparel.

Throughout the years leggings have evolved into the one-piece garment we know today, but for a long time, they remained part of men’s apparel only. During WWI and WWII, the separate leggings came back for a time, though they were a much shorter version and only went from ankle to knee. The purpose of the military leggings was to provide ankle support and keep debris from getting into boots.

It was not until the 1950s that leggings started showing up women’s closets. Originally they were a bit looser than today’s style and were often capris length. And by the 1960s, leggings made with spandex came out, creating the leggings we are most familiar with today.

Leggings have been a big part of fashion off and on for years, though for the most part, they have been a staple in most wardrobes. However, for a few short years, leggings were only ever seen in the gym, when looser fit pants were in style during the early part of the 21st century.

The leggings of today are seen just about everywhere you turn. They come in a variety of lengths, styles, colors, and patterns. Leggings are a garment favored by many for its comfort and versatility, which is why there is a variety of legging of the month clubs.

Leggings aren’t your only option either. There are various other clubs that feature clothing as well, including clubs for shirts, ties, and even socks.
