Cannabis was first used in 500 BC in Asia for medicinal and possibly ceremonial purposes. As people began exploring the world and exchanging goods, marijuana found its way to Africa, Europe, and finally, the Americas.

Hemp has been utilized for centuries for a multitude of uses beyond that of recreational purposes. Some of the more general applications for this plant were:

  • Paper
  • Rope
  • Food – Just the seed portion
  • Medicinal
  • Clothing
  • Boat Sails

The original plants used for different textiles were low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the mind-altering chemical found in weed. The reason for using the marijuana plant for various products was due to the plant’s ability to grow efficiently and quickly, making it an ideal high yield crop.

In addition to its various functional uses, cannabis has also been used for recreational purposes. One of the earliest recorded methods of it being used as a mind-altering substance is also 500 BC in Asia, in the form of burned seeds found in the graves of shamans in both China and Siberia.

In the beginning, using marijuana to get high was primarily seen in Asia and the middle east. However, by the early 1900s around the time of the Mexican Revolution, cannabis higher in THC became more popular in the United States.

Fast forward to the present day, and you can now find legalized recreational marijuana products containing THC in eleven states. With its new authorized status, the cannabis market has exploded with a wide range of products such as gummies, pre-rolled smokes, hard candies, and beverages.

One great way to learn and try a variety of products is signing yourself or a loved one up for a weed of the month club membership. Cannabis monthly subscriptions come in a multitude of choices able to fit the needs of the beginner, the dabbler, or even the connoisseur.

Monthly Stash

Monthly Stash brown cardboard box with logo of digital smiley face in green on the inside cover. The box contains, a blue glass pipe, a Raw Roller, Raw Tips, Raw Papers, Green Doob Tube, White lighter

Hunter Meyer, founder, and CEO, of Monthly Stash, wanted to create an easy and discreet shopping experience for those who also enjoyed his smoking hobby.

Meyer was inspired to create Monthly Stash after one too many times of running out of papers and needing to hit the local gas station. The downfalls of going to the gas station were the prices and the possibility of running into co-workers.

Though Meyer enjoyed his smoking habit, it wasn’t something he was looking to advertise amongst his fellow professionals. Knowing he couldn’t be alone in his desire for discretion and not wanting to pay exorbitant prices for rolling papers, Monthly Stash was born.

Monthly Stash is a straight forward smoking club and does not offer any a la carte items. Though there is only one subscription option, it contains everything you will need to stay stocked up on basics every month.

The benefits of signing up for this subscription are saving money since it is only $29.99/month, the convenience of home delivery, trying new products, and discretion.

Each box includes 6-8 items:

  • Several packs of Premium Papers
  • Blunts
  • Glass bowl
  • 3-4 useful mystery items like grinders, lighters, doob tubes, pre-rolled tips, and rolling machine.

Their store features accessories priced anywhere from $9.99 to $394.99. Their unique selections include:

  • Puffco Peak Medusa Travel Kit Bundle
  • Mushroom Carb Caps
  • Rolling Trays
  • Pocket size crushers
  • Dab Torch

But as their name advertises, the subscription boxes are their specialty. Each box is specially themed and can be set up as a month to month, 3-month plan, or a 6-month plan. Prices vary depending on which membership option you choose, starting as low as $27.83 – $34.99, all pricing includes shipping.

Each of the boxes contains 6-8 useful accessories like:

  • Premium Glass Pipes
  • Rolling Papers
  • Water Pipes
  • Swag
  • Wraps
  • Rolling trays
  • Snacks
